It was a nice day out so far, though the dark clouds in the distance promised rain later. But for now the clouds were rolling peacefully around in the light blue sky. A cool and calming breeze drifted through the air, the animals seemed to be in a rather good mood as there were not screeching or panic scurrying in the few trees and in the tall grass. By now it had to be around noon time the sun hanging lazily overhead, it was quiet walking to the plains at least the way Nial was going. He was cutting over the plans hoping to get some quiet away from the cities and towns.
Having an off day was rather weird for him. It didn’t happen often, he was usually hopping place from place picking up new jobs along the way. But he just finished up a job and wasn’t planning on taking any for a little bit, it was his sister’s birthday soon enough so he wanted some down time to get his story together along with spend her birthday together. Something that hadn’t happened for a long time, so he was doing down time before he started travelling to her home at the moment. At least where he thought she was staying he would have to check on that after all she did move around a lot just like him.
Upon his way his different colored eyes scanned the area for anybody else. It wasn’t that hard to spot the person in the middle, after all it was a flat land and pretty easy to see anywhere one would want to as long as something wasn’t blocking said person’s view. He tilted his head and started to walk over. Was it someone else who just wanted some quiet? Were they escaping their life for a few hours? Or was something wrong? After all it wasn’t normal to just see a girl laying in the middle of a field. As he got closer he noticed something was up. She looked upset, like things just hadn’t gone right that day.
So being the type of man Nial was he started to head her way at a faster pace, it wouldn’t look like he was hurrying just taking long strides which he could do fairly easily. He came up to her and bent over to look at her face, his ears flopping in front of his face for a moment before he moved them up. “Something wrong, sweetie?” He asked putting his hands in his pockets. Taking a seat he said, “Whatever it is just brush it off and move on it would probably end up being better for you in the end anyway.” He hands moved back and dug into the dirt as he leaned back on them. “By the way the name’s Nial, Nial Shine.”

While it was a beautiful day out, with a perfect blue sky that seemed to never end and a sun that seemed to shine like it had never been sad or disheartened, and how could it ever be anything less than a bright and cheerful sun, it could have certainly been better for young Noel. She had been informed days before that she would be getting a day off, her first day off in weeks, maybe even months, and she could hardly contain the sheer joy that she felt at the prospect. She hadn't had a day to herself in so long that she was beginning to feel run down and tired all the time and here was the answer to all her problems. While everybody was so nice and she enjoyed working in the castle, nothing could beat a simple day of rest. Everybody needs a break sometimes, right? With the very idea of not having to work for just one day, she felt like absolutely nothing to bring her spirits down.
She had made plans to wander the outside boundaries of the castle, maybe walk around the gardens and enjoy the sunshine and the wonderful sent of the flowers. She was going to sleep in and just revel in the fact that she was not expected to do a single thing all day. It was such a wonderful thought that she could hardly get to sleep the night before, she was so excited knowing that she could have the entire day to do anything that she wanted, as long as it was within reason. However, once the calming dark grasp of sleep overtook her, her day of rest was about to become one of the worst days of her life. As soon as sleep wrapped around her like a warm, comforting blanket, promising that everything was going to be alright for the time being, her bad day had begun, for she did not have a comforting sleep. She had a nightmare, one full of such terrible fear and loneliness that she awoke the rooms around her with her painful whimperings and hushed screams. She was scolded heavily for that, as whatever sleep a maid can get is very important to them, and she was unable to fall asleep afterwords. She couldn't even remember what her nightmare was about.
So, with this fear of sleep weighing heavily on her mind, Noel realized that she would have to find something else to do to occupy her time. With nothing worthwhile being held in the servants quarters, she got up and got ready for the day, ready to leave after throwing on some clean clothes and a splash of cold water to the face. After wandering the castle for about an hour, using the light of a candle to find her way, she came to rest outside, shivering in the cold morning air as she watched the Earth come alive. This in itself was not a too terrible, except for the fact that she had grown tired, but what followed was what helped in worsening her day. After resting beneath a tree for quite some time, dozing off well into the early morning sun had risen, she got up to head to the kitchens for a late breakfast before setting off towards the gardens once more. Upon arriving at the kitchens in hopes of finding some crackers or a crust of bread, she accidentally ran into one of the servants who was preparing the morning meal for one of the nobles of the house, causing her to drop the tray and spill it's contents everywhere, breaking the fine dishes as well. This earned her a slap and a severe scolding, followed by a schooing from the kitchens.
Noel, tired and upset, ran from the castle and past the gardens, letting her feet take her wherever they pleased. In this case, they took her somewhere she had never been and where she had never figured she would go. She left the boundaries of the castle, something she had only ever done a handul of times, and had made her way to a lovely field. Not knowing where she was or how to get anywhere or where to even go, she decided to just take a rest in the field. So that is how Noel was currently having a terrible day and found herself in the middle of an unknown field, tired, hungry, and upset. Well, at least she was alone to contemplate and think about her bad day. If she was with somebody, she certainly would have begun to complain, and that is never something that is good for her. Once she complains, she just doesn't stop and she goes on and on, and she usually gets emotional. Yea, she was totally ok with being alone.
So there Noel was, looking up at the sky and feeling the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the day starting to relax her frazzled nerves when all of a sudden, a pair of bunny ears appeared in her view. Well there went her frazzled nerves again. She was so deep in thought, she hadn't even heard his approach! Thank goodness he didn't seem like he was going to harm her, which she gathered from how he called her sweetie. He seemed to actually care if something was wrong with her, so she figured he was friendly enough. It would have been really bad for her if she couldn't even pay attention to her surroundings enough to notice she was in trouble. She would have to be more careful.
Once the initial shock of having a stranger hang his face and, admittedly adorable, bunny ears over you and call you sweetie, Noel looked over at him from the corner of her eye. He was tall and nicely dressed and rather good-looking, and as he sat down and gave her advise, she could tell that he was rather kind, too. She couldn't help but smile as he introduced himself; he seemed so kind. There weren't many like him in the castle, people who could give advice to just a random stranger who probably looked terrible from lack of sleep and from being slapped. "Hello, Nial. My name is Noel Radke. It is very nice to meet you," she said, her head facing him as she offered him a smile. "Thank you for your kind words of advice. I have not had a very good day so far, and now I am lost, so it is nice to have somebody to talk to."

He looked over and smiled at her. She seemed nice enough, and not one that she be alone and upset in the middle of a field. It just seemed wrong to as when most girls were in trouble or sad. For a spy on weakness it was pretty bad but hey. It’s not like he ever spilled anything. Jeez if he did he would probably be dead right now. But stepping away from those thoughts Nial said, “It’s nice to meet you as well Miss Noel.” He brushed off his one hand on his pants, making sure it was clean of dirt before placing it out in between the two.
“No problem, though most of my friends would say just ignore me but aw well. If it helps it helps.” He laughed gently. Not in a mean way almost like he was remembering but he wasn’t. And it wasn’t only his ‘friends’ that would say that. “I see that, may i?” He questioned raising his hand letting it hover near her cheek. Some might think it was strange that a man out of nowhere sat down next to a young girl and wanted to see her cheek were it was obvious someone smacked her rather hardly. It made him so angry when he saw something like this. Young girls, if they made a mistake or not do not deserve such treatment. And he didn’t care who gave it.
He smiled lightly looking into her eyes with his multi colored ones. “Don’t be silly now. You aren’t lost, you just are sure of where you’re going yet. As soon as you know where you’re going you won’t be lost anymore. You’ll just be looking for the right path to get there.” Some wouldn’t keep up with that or just think that he was crazy but it was the truth. And it sound a lot better than saying ‘I’m lost’, it’s why Nial always said he was looking for something or someone. At any rate it made him feel better nine times out of ten, at least for a bit. So maybe just maybe it would help Noel. “Is there anything I can do?”
