There was a certain excitement in the building. Someone, somewhere, had said something or other about royalty coming here to this hotel. Not only the king and queen, who deserved the people's celebration on their own, but the royalty of other kingdoms were rumored to be making the journey. Now, the commoners bustling about, sharing the rumor as Chevalier passed by had no idea why this was happening, or even if it was true. Chevalier didn't bother to clarify. Surely they'd see his father and mother, and even perhaps his brother to confirm it.
Chevalier himself wasn't a particularly visible figure in the royal family. Ever since his eighteenth birthday, his father just hadn't wanted to force him into anything he didn't want to do. Some day the boy would be king, and if he was, he wasn't to listen to the counsel of his advisers above his own reasoning, even if that adviser was family. So Chevalier was free to mingle about the kingdom with very few restrictions. Better yet, with very few servants.
Today Chevalier had none of the regular servants flanking him. They were at the doors and he'd passed a few that were just sweeping the area, but none stopped him, and none followed him as he wandered. In fact, to his delight, none even offered more than a nod of acknowledgement. Just as he would have it. He knew without a doubt that he could stop any one of them and have their full attention, but he wasn't going to do that.
"Prince Chevalier!" A voice called. Chevalier stopped, turning to face his accuser. A pretty teenage girl, the daughter of someone important, he was sure, was standing in the hallway several feet away. It looked almost like she was trembling with excitement to see him. Chevalier suppressed the urge to chuckle. After exchanging some pleasantries, she was called into a hotel room by her mother to get dressed (after all, they had to look proper in case they had a chance to greet the royal family). Chevalier took this chance to escape to the back door of the building.
He was lead into the garden area where guests were free to take their meals or just relax in the peaceful, well kept landscape. Chevalier navigated the foliage until he found one of the sparsely placed benches. Content, he took up a spot on the bench, his eyes wandering to the colorful flowers surrounding him. ✘ chevy

Crystallia Arex Luxene[!--!] Come Break Me Down. Bury Me. Bury Me. [!--!] Chaos had hit the inner workings of the city early that morning with the announcement that royalty may be visiting soon. Never one to become involved in such things, Crystallia had been quick to leave even the outskirts of town where she had been surviving off of very little. Guards littered the roads in numbers far higher than usual, and the petite girl would find herself in a sort of conflict with one in due time. Dressed in simple clothing, Crystallia was no doubt a commoner here. Her attire was plain, as she sported denim bottoms and a cotton t-shirt that offered her little protection from the bright sun. As always, looped securely around her neck was her rose-adorned necklace, which would always outclass the rest of her clothing. The origins of the accessory would remain unknown, but something about the special way she had always worn it successfully connected the jewlry to her distant past. When her parents were alive, and before the fiasco with those whom would rather see her dead. Now, as she transversed the brightly lighted lands of Dubonna, she could not stop herself from letting her mind linger on such things. Details about her family that she would never know. Passing the city gates absent mindedly as she wandered, the young girl was brought out of her mind by a young boy standing at the entrance. He seemed uneasy, though upon seeing Crystallia, abruptly ran over to her. "Hello there! I have a gift for you!" the young woman stared after him with a puzzled expression as the boy, less than twelve years old by the looks of him, disappeared into the growth of the nearby woods. Turning the object over in her hands, she lifted the paper wrapping to find a glittering ring. There was a bright blue stone, set in a golden band. Writing was etched into the inside, but the pale female would never get to read it. Picking the no doubtly expensive piece of jewlry up, she turned it in her fingers and watched as the sun bounced off of it. "There it is!" Someone shouted from her south, where the entrance into the city was. Jumping violently, Crystallia turned to see two guards rushing in her direction, where an older woman pointed accusingly. The instinct to run was overwhelmed by fear as her arm was grabbed and the object torn from her hands. Any words that were said were drowned out as something feral emerged in her eyes -- a fright so basic it made her entire body tremble. Crystallia? Steal? The idea was preposterous, but she could not muster up the words to speak as she was pulled towards the city. Within what seemed like seconds, Crystallia and the two guards were in the middle of a large crowd of bustling people. The girls strangeness attracted attention immediately, as people began to wonder where her wings, or other characteristics happened to be. It was known that some Death Angels could conceal their feathery appendages, but two very slight ridges on her back announced that her wings were, in fact, missing. The attention, coupled with the mens tight pressure on her arms, caused a dizzinness that impaired her walking ability. Still, she was almost dragged through the streets, where she passed numerous buildings that she was too scared to notice.

- crystallia | noon | incognito -[[ profile | | journal ]] give me a second, i ... When you were part of the royal family, the sudden presence of noise nearby was very concerning. Was it trouble? Was someone threatening the prince? Was someone harming the guards? Chevalier rose from his spot, weaving through the rest of the garden until he had reached the street where Crystallia was being escorted. At least it wasn't his family. Relief settled on his expression.
But, immediately, Chevy noticed her short, non imposing figure compared to the guards. Why were they dragging her if she couldn't fight back? What could she have possibly done? It didn't look like she put up much of a fight. She didn't seem to have any visible, recent injuries signalling that she'd been struck on her face or elsewhere. Even if she had, her attire spoke volumes about her status. She wasn't a threat. Had she threatened his family? A crazed citizen who meant to harm his loved ones? It was a possibility.
Chevalier clasped his hands behind his back, strolling through the crowd until he reached the girl and the guards. He knew he shouldn't get involved. He knew he was overstepping boundaries and undermining the law enforcement of the kingdom.
"Excuse me, good sirs.
" Chevalier began, stopping confidently directly in front of the guards and the girl. " Sorry to interrupt your arrest, but, my father is nearby, and this is a little distracting. Might I inquire as to what this young lady's crime is that might warrant all this attention on such a joyous day? And, if you wouldn't mind, would you mind letting her go? I promise, they-" he gestured to the people that had stopped to watch, " Can capture her for me." Then again, he didn't add that he would just as soon let her run as order anyone to stop her.[/blockquote] ✘ chevy

Crystallia Arex Luxene[!--!] Come Break Me Down. Bury Me. Bury Me. [!--!] The skittish behavior, her signature reaction to most things, was most pronounced when yet another person she did not recognize stopped in front of them. Crystallia balked a step, shying away from the young man, though brought back up to pace quickly. Her delicate skin would already be bruised by the tightness there, though the area had gone numb long ago. This being was obviously one of authority, as his presence stopped the never ending stream of people. Had she her wings, they would have been fluttering anxiously as she stood very awkwardly. Opening her mouth, she quickly closed it again. No words had passed through her lips for a long time, the last one being a 'it's okay' to an injured rabbit she had found in the woods. The panic had faded slightly, though the conflict sent shakes through every muscle she had. Tears hadn't brimmed her eyes, but that was normal. Crystallia did not cry unless physically injured. Regardless of that, if any other being were to experience her terror they would no doubt have been sobbing by that point. The guards paid this no mind as they had been trained to do. Many criminals would pretend to appear extremely guilty to get out of things, so Crystallia's genuine behavior went unnoticed by them. Their voices were gruff as they spoke to this stranger, "She stole jewels, Sir. An expensive piece custom made for a lord." their explanation was brief, and a cringe struck her face as one of them tightened their grip rather considerably. While their stone faces didn't change, at least one of them was quite annoyed at being undermined in front of such a large group of people. The crowd had gotten larger as more and more peasants stopped their lives momentarily for the drama that was occurring out on the streets. Despite the irritation that had gotten a hold of them, their hold lessened and eventually released. The shock made her frozen. Under the effects of adrenaline and the amygdala, Crystallia hadn't paid attention to the numerous streets they had passed down. All the people blocked her view, as she was already tiny and had trouble seeing around other citizens. While a true criminal would have ran, or a normal person would have uttered at least a thanks, Crystallia Arex Luxene could only keep her feet planted on the cobblestones of the city. The high sun and combined nervousness made her body hot and her head had already begun to pound without mercy behind her eyes.

"Mhm. Stealing is a high crime, especially a trinket worthy of a lord.
" Chevalier affirmed. " I wouldn't want it reflecting on my father. If you don't mind, I'd like to take this matter directly to him to handle. Will you release this young woman into my custody, or must my father make this request?" His attention turned to her as he waited for the 'yes' he expected. He offered her a small smile, his left hand moving from behind his back to extend toward her, hoping she'd take it as if the simple contact would be all the protection she needed. " I'm certain he's celebrating right now, so, I'm not sure he'd be too pleased, but it's entirely up to you." Chevalier added passively to the guards. And, he meant it, they could approach the king, it just might serve as more of an annoyance than anything. It wasn't likely that the king would be praising their behavior, denying a prince. " Ms? Would you mind terribly coming with me?" Chevalier questioned kindly, knowing it wasn't really a question that could be answered with a 'no', anyway. Or, at least, he assumed she wouldn't say no to him. No was not a word the prince was accustomed to.[/blockquote] ✘ chevy

Crystallia Arex Luxene[!--!] Come Break Me Down. Bury Me. Bury Me. [!--!] Crystallia's violet eyes traveled across the mass of people, as if searching for a face she knew. Of course she wouldn't find any. Whispers echoed from their mouthes not only at the guards being almost reprimanded, but about the girl herself. Some of them were curious, though distaste was evident in some of the other inhabitants -- more especially the younger of them. What freak didn't have a tail? Or wings? That wasn't normal here. And why wouldn't she talk? Any other person would have at least defended themselves against the accusations brought up against them. At their stares the Death Angel felt herself leaning backwards towards the very men that had brought her here. The mere fact they didn't act like she was a complete freak drew her slightly towards them. Their intentions were concrete. Crystallia couldn't truly identify the intentions of anyone else. Perhaps that's what frightened her the most. Her lack of trust in people would have gone against her now, had it not been for the other guards slight push in her back. They obviously didn't want her too close to them, for reasons she couldn't really seek out at that particular moment. Crystallia looked at the young man's face, and found that she even though he was obviously someone important, she could not identify him. Most likely due to her time out of any social circle to speak of. However, when met with the decision to either take his hand or stay where she was, the young woman was wise in choosing the only option of escape. Swallowing whatever fear of him she may have had, the female took the strangers hand. The touch, though not affectionate in any way, comforted her greatly. While she wasn't entirely sure he wouldn't hurt her in some way, reason was slowly taking over and she realize that the likeliness of it wasn't in any of the higher percentiles. Clutching his hand like it was a sort of lifeline, she settled herself slightly behind him and looked out into the crowd of people once more. If the girl was capable of hate, she would have hated that. She should have hated everything. Whether luckily or not, the female, however, could never feel hatred or anger towards anyone. Even the people that had made her this way. She had done something wrong then. That's why they hated her. The incredible expanse of her ability to understand was both a blessing and a curse.

There. With the simple contact, the prince was assured that she'd be safe. Instead of addressing the guards to assure them that he'd take care of the matter, he let the girl grasp his hand as he lead her away from the crowd. Without fail, the crowd parted for him without waiting for him to gesture or verbally demand it. But, he had no idea where he was going, or if she felt well enough to walk. Once he was sure he was out of the sight of the guards, he moved to the side of a nearby building, turning to face the girl he was guiding.
"I'm not taking you to my father.
" Chevalier assured her, figuring that if she really thought she was being taken to the king, she might be understandably worried. " I apologize for the way those men treated you. I will discuss it with my father. They should have showed you more respect, no matter your crime." He glanced to his left, slightly annoyed by the fact that his words were being heard by many other people beyond the girl. His attention went back to Crystallia after only a few moments. " Here, let me see," Chevalier stepped forward, placing a delicate touch to the arm of the hand he was still holding, to extend it so he could examine her for signs of injuries that weren't previously visible to him. As he attempted to examine her, he spoke again. " I apologize for causing you trouble, Ms. Might I please escort you somewhere you know to be safe?" Chevalier requested, his tone soft and sincere. A prince defending a thieving commoner was unbecoming and would probably aggravate people. And if she had the misfortune of encountering those same guards, well... He didn't want to imagine what could happen to her then. [/blockquote] ✘ chevy

Crystallia Arex Luxene[!--!] Come Break Me Down. Bury Me. Bury Me. [!--!] Grasping one of the roses that adorned her neck, Crystallia followed Chevalier through the crowd of people. Her eyes were glued to the ground, where she could avoid making eye contact with any of the other commoners. Nerves made her legs shaky and wobbly, but she didn't mind a quick paced walk if it meant she could get away from the middle of everyone's attention. As the pair made their way to an unknown destination, people slowly began to move about the city once more. She could hear people calling out the prices of goods in the distance, and mothers constantly after their chidren. Violet met blue as eye contact was made between them, and the fact that Crystallia held it was probably surprising considering her personality. But, alas, she did, and then followed it as his gaze moved to the people around them. Rumors about the incident would be spread around the common folk within hours. Crystallia paid it little mind, though, as she would hopefully never step foot in this place again. Undoubtedly scared away by the incident that had occured here. Dubonna was a relatively cheerful place, and the people typically welcoming -- as long as you weren't an oddity, of course. That was true any where. Hope for her was slim in that department, but after going her whole life without any positive human contact meant that she had little to miss. Despite her seemingly distant gaze, Crystallia was still completely aware of what the stranger was saying, and some how mustered up the voice to say something regarding it. "Not a thief." her voice was melodical, however so quiet that it was almost completely drowned out by any noise that happened to go off at that particular moment. Crystallia gently pulled her arm away, rubbing her arm where bruises in the shapes of fingertips were quickly forming. A few whisps of silky, thin hair brushed her face as a soft breeze fluttered by, accompanied by a loud bird high in the sky. How the young girl wished to be free like that -- instead of in this place surrounded by people whom she did not know. Lifting her eyes from a spot on a nearby wall that wasn't particularly special, Crystallia met Chevalier's eyes and shook her head. Saddly, there wasn't any real place he could accompany her to. The social outcast was currently living off of things she found in the forest, and sleeping wherever she found a place suitable.

Chevy had a way of overstepping boundaries, but for him, boundaries were definitely extended beyond what would normally be allowed. When she pulled away her hand, however gentle it may have been, surprise etched into his features at what he interpreted was a bold action. He watched her for a few moments with that surprise, before, finally, he gave a quick nod, finally acknowledging her statement that she wasn't a theif. He clasped his hands behind his back again.
"Right. I apologize. I shouldn't make assumptions.
" Chevalier nodded. With that, he relaxed enough to focus on introductions. " I'm sorry our meeting wasn't... well, you know, normal. But, regardless, my name is Chevalier. And, you are?" When she provided a shake of her head regarding somewhere they could go, Chevalier hesitated. His father wasn't at the castle- actually, as far as he knew, his brother and mother weren't, either- so he could take her there. But, for how long? And who would really want to go to the castle? Sure, he lived there... It was still intimidating. But he didn't have a lot of choices. It was unbecoming to escort her to somewhere private, while the castle was always bustling with servants and guards. " Might I invite you to the Lafraniere castle until this is sorted out? You're more than welcome there." Chevalier offered. Maybe he was trying too hard. Maybe he was caring about the wrong people- what would this commoner ever do for him? But Chevalier desperately wanted the company of someone that didn't reside in his father's castle.[/blockquote] ✘ chevy

Crystallia Arex Luxene[!--!] Come Break Me Down. Bury Me. Bury Me. [!--!] Surprise, only a step or so down from shock, was noted in the older male. Crystallia didn't feel threatened by it, though, and she had her own reasons for pulling away from him. Some part of it was due to the sheer fact that she wasn't used to human contact, but another was credited to the numerous scars that marked her body. There wasn't much on her arms, and they were so light that in the darkness of the shadows -- caused by the building by which she stood -- that they most likely could not be seen. Her body was more predominantly marked on her hands and upper body, but like her arms, most of them were well hidden by the paleness of her skin. Normal? Nothing about her was normal. The oddity of life was something she had become accustomed to, sadly. As regrettable as it was, Crystallia busied her mind with the more normal adventure of speaking. "Crystallia." Dark eyelashes fluttered nervously as her gaze fell onto the ground, where her feet shifted over the cobblestones uncomfortably. The idea of being invited to a castle was one she didn't know how to think of. Who exactly was this person, whom must have lived life quite luxuriously? Could it be possible that this poor peasant girl was conversing with a member of the royal family? Crystallia found the thought to actually be credible given the circumstances, though whether or not she'd feel comfortable in such a place was irrefutably negative. Why did he even care enough to not just leave her to find her way back to the outskirts of civilization? All these questions would most likely never see the light of day as she bit her lip gently and looks at him with an otherwise blank expression. In the honesty that was her character, she found she could not answer the question with a confident reply. People would no doubt be all around such an expansive place, and they were most likely even more active than the towns people themselves in preparation for the incoming company from afar. Crystallia's company would be far less than beneficial for him, as she was not used to conversation and lead a life that no one would ever be truly interested in. Not to mention the burden she'd probably be there. While not necessarily shy, she did not like the idea of more people to look at her like she was a mental patient. Of such things, Chevalier's oblivious reaction towards her lack of animal attributes found a way to trouble her for some reason. Not in the way of fear or annoyance, but more with the characteristics of something poking in the back of her mind that didn't seem quite right. "Okay." The whisper was so quiet she highly doubted he had heard her. Even in the likelihood that she would be a bother in a place like a castle, Crystallia found she had little choice in the matter.

- crystallia | noon | patiently walking -[[ profile | | journal ]] give me a second, i ... "It's a pleasure to meet you, Crystallia.
" Chevalier stated, knowing full well he wasn't compelled to say such a thing to a commoner. His attention was momentarily diverted to the people upon the streets as they moved past, some so absorbed in their lives that they hardly noticed he was standing upon the street. No matter. He looked back to Crystallia. " Alright, now. How did you come to get accused of being a thief if you aren't one?" Chevalier questioned. He gestured forward, then started walking. If she didn't want to follow, the prince wasn't going to physically force her compliance. He didn't want to see her in danger, but it was hardly his responsibility to drag a commoner the way the guards had. And, anyway, if she did take him up on his offer, he had some explaining to do about who she was and how he'd come upon her. Not that it was much of a secret or anything to be ashamed of. Chevy hadn't done anything too out of line, other than undermining the guards. That could be forgiven, he was fairly certain. And by the time he saw his family, he could only hope he knew a little bit more about Crystallia to make it seem like bringing her to the castle wasn't completely random and unfounded.[/blockquote] ✘ chevy
