The wind blow causing the few strands still hanging around the princess’s faces to flitter about. Her hair was usually the most recognizing thing about her so when she wanted to go out and not be stopped everywhere she would put it up in a bun, much like it was now but she could never get all of the strands. Her usual attire was cast away when she was getting dress today; no instead she was in commoner’s clothes. Darker then she usually wore she was dressed in a plain dark blue dress, with thin leather boots, she pulled her wings in close and started for the market.
The day only grew better as it wore on. The market place was busy and everyone was out buying, selling or entertaining. It made her smile, even though the kingdom had been through some very rough times the people were still happy and full of life. People could still be themselves even when their environment was getting a little rougher every day. She shifted through the crowds eyes flittering over performers and some small stands. Though it wasn’t her eyes that caught it but her ears that founds a delightful sound of music ring out, so she naturally fallowed the music until it grew louder and louder.
Her eyes landed on a thin golden haired boy playing a guitar. The music was happy and uplifting, filled with joy. Yet as she watched him play something seemed to be wrong, the boy wasn’t into it. As the song ended she made her way to the front with a small smile on her face. “Would you play your favorite song? Even if it’s sad or mad, perhaps it’s glad. But it has to speak to you.” She smiled a hand resting on her coin pouch, she would pay him if he did the tasked asked but if he didn’t and played a fake song… then she wouldn’t.

He was usually off performing at the nearby tavern or even the inn. But, no. Today he had to play in the marketplace like he did as a child. His faithful old guitar hung over his shoulder with one hand strumming and the other dancing, so to speak, around, stopping the vibrations to make various notes. His voice rang out as he sang, attracting a few people to gather around him. Business was never that good, regardless of where he played. At least the marketplace had more people than the tavern did, even though the tavern owner paid him whether he pleased the crowd or not.
A sigh passed through his lips as the last song came to an end. The people dispersed, leaving tips in the small, open tin can he had placed a foot away from him. It didn't look very professional, but, hey, he had to use what limited resources he had. Evander's ears swiveled and perked as a female voice spoke directly to him. He plastered on a smile and looked up from his guitar, locking his golden gaze on the dark haired girl.
His eyes widened slightly, smile fading as his mind registered her words. His favorite song? Well... He didn't really play it that often, since, well, people would rather be happy during this time period. But, oh well. It was a request. "As you wish, miss." He gave another smile as he quickly flexed his fingers. Replacing them upon his guitar, he strummed the slow, rather depressing introduction to the song. Soon after, his voice mingled with the melody.
"All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces... Bright and early for the daily races. Going nowhere, going nowhere...

As his eyes widened she couldn’t help the small smile that came onto her lips. Though as his faded she wondered if he would even take the request for more than one reason. First the small crowd that had gathered around him had parted their ways and now only a few people remained herself included. Second, it was often hard for people to pick their favorite songs even if they can play it. Lastly, it might be personal so he wouldn’t want to share it. As it turns out he still did take it with a polite, ‘As you wish, miss,’ before he started to play the notes on his guitar.
As he played the song she watched him; how his fingers moved over the strings, his expressions, and the way the song flowed out of his lips. This time it was more real like he really connected with it unlike the other happier songs he had been playing. Though his skill wasn’t diminished by those feelings it just seemed like he had more feelings with this one. About half way through she really began to lose herself in the music, allowing her guard to be cast down for the few minutes of the song. She found herself swaying slightly to the beat of the music as well as painting pictures in her mind of what was happening within the lyrics. It’s something that she always did and she didn’t know why.
As the song came to an end she opened her eyes and stopped swaying. “Thank you for sharing your favorite song.” She said before placing enough money in the cup to buy a nice meal and a bit extra. She didn’t notice it was a bit much for a commoner but it wasn’t that bad for her. She glanced around noting that there weren’t any others left. “I guess that’s why you don’t play any of those songs right?” She laughed gently, “I enjoyed it thank you. You’re a real performer.” I wouldn’t mind him playing at the castle. She thought smiling at him.

He truly did love that song. He had learned it from the woman who kept him after his family's death, and she had treasured the song dearly, even if it made her cry. Golden eyes flicked up from the ground--when had he started staring at it?--to the girl.
Her words made his heart flutter. No one had ever said that the more sorrowful songs her knew were good or that they enjoyed it. Well, other than the woman who taught him the songs, but... It still made him happy. Evander gave the girl a large smile, the usual one he gave to, well, anyone. Though, considering the plentiful amount she had just put in his cup, the smile was slightly more real.
"Thank you, miss."

She smiled at him once more. His smile was big and happy looking though she guessed it could have been better. Once Des put the money in the cup she waved off the thank you, "Don't thank me you earned it." Looking at the guitar she wished she could play an instrument like that or at least play at all. She wasn't very skilled when it came to the likes of music though the eldest princess did enjoy it very much. Always loving it when they had balls and the performers played. Silently she wondered if he had ever played at something like that, a big celebration not necessarily a ball. Guessing that he hadn't or at least she hadn't seen him at anything of the likes Desi made a metal note to ask her father and mother if he could play sometime. That is if she saw him after this.
"Would you care to take a walk?" She asked quietly. Looking around most where gone from this area of the market. Perhaps while they were walking he would see somewhere a bit busier or maybe the inn to play in so he could make more money. The Princess would also love to talk with him a bit more, maybe get to know him. She always did enjoy knowing more about her people. And this was the perfect way to find out. "How did you learn to play?" She questioned him. She really didn't mean to be so questiony but she was really just curious about this boy, the way he played and how he got like this. "I'm sorry I’m being rude aren’t i? My name is Des or you can call my Desi by the way." She added with a second thought placing out her hand for a shake.

He thanked pretty much anyone who gave him money for his playing, but those people would just nod and leave. But, no, this girl was staying... And asking if he would take a walk with her. Evander felt his ears droop in confusion, but he was quick to make them perk like they normally would by swiveling them forward. "S-sure!" He gave another smile, shifting Lux so she was hanging by his back instead of his chest.
Evander crouched down, reaching for and picking up the little jar that was heavier than it usually was. How much did she put in there? Enough to eat decently tonight, that was for sure. He stood up, the jar grasped firmly in his hand, and turned to the girl. He was almost caught off guard by her question. He rarely had to tell people how he learned. Most just weren't interested. "Oh... Well, a good friend of the family taught me. She even gave me Lux!" His smile widened as he pointed to the old guitar on his back. That 'friend of the family' was an amazing woman. He missed her... But, it wasn't the time to dwell on the past.
Des or Desi? Nicknames? He was curious as to her full name, but he wasn't going to pester her about it. "I'm Evander, though you can call me Evan." He glanced down at her hand, reaching out with his free hand. He gently grabbed her hand to shake it before retracting, not really wanting prolonged contact. He needed to wash his hands after a day like this.
